Along with the rapid development of computer and embedded technology, the videomonitoring system also go through from the analog monitor to the embedded wireless videosurveillance. It has been widely applied in various fields and has became an importantresearch hot spot. This paper is based on the video surveillance project in a materialswarehouse handled by49th Institute of China Electronics Technology Group, we study theproblem specifically of how to build an embedded wireless video surveillance system, focuson solving the problem of collection and transmission of the video signal in real-time system,the display and storage of video images. Finally, we realize a easy-to-mobile videosurveillance system that with low-cost, stable performance. This has important practicalsignificance for the development of embedded wireless video surveillance system.Through discuss the related technologies and systems development process that involvedby embedded wireless video surveillance system, for specific projects of hardware andsoftware needs by the institute, we determine the overall design of this project, andindependent to build a complete video surveillance system. This wireless video surveillancesystem is divided into three parts which are video surveillance equipment, network transportand client monitoring. The composition of the video surveillance equipment hardwareresources are Mini2440development board, USB camera, WiFi, Wireless LAN. Its softwareis mainly on the Linux system design, including the Bootloader transplantation, kernelporting, the root file system and video server applications. Client achieve the videosurveillance through the PC browser or the monitoring and management system software.We design and analysis the video server application on the monitoring equipment, Itmainly includes two parts of the video capture program and video transmission program. Atthe same time, using HTML markup language make corresponding web page, so that theclient can use a browser monitoring video conveniently. In order to facilitate the users videomanagement, we design and development of video surveillance software in dependently byusing the VC6.0. The software enables the following functions: control the switching of thevideo capture program through the host computer, display the collected images, and videopreservation, etc. Meanwhile, in order to prove this software’s extensions, we added someextended instances based on the previous software. Finally, by testing the video surveillance system, prove that it can achieve the desiredfunctionality to meet project requirements, and is reasonably available to the videosurveillance system.
