Museum has of perienced develop from physical collection of private and to the open of public. Museum explanation system is one of the important parts of the museum. Collections are the heart of the museum, the explanation is the soul of the museum. The museum not only cares about collections, but also cares about tourists. The human factor is the most basic standards of a museum that would achieve the value and significance of the collections to visitors. Explanation system helpes visitors understand the specific information and communicate each other.The automatic explanation system has changed the traditional static display form of museum. The FPGA board contains the infrared transceiver technology and the audio data compression technology. The objective of this thesis is that to make visitors get the complete information of each collection, to help visitors to understand the historical and cultural knowledge of collections in museum, to provide a automatic explanation equipment for visitors. The main work is summarized as follows.1. To study some product information of automatic explanation system, and to understand their operating modes and performance.2. To learn the application of language and working principle of FPGA board, and design the automatic explanation system’s work modules and the development of content.3. To investigate the principles and methods of infrared communication, make the modules of infrared trigger based on the FPGA board, write Verilog HDL language according to the infrared communication, and design different infrared trigger sequence to select operating mode.4. To study the work principle and the way of the audio chips on FPGA board. Voice signal transmission had several different communication protocols, write the development language accoeding to the communication protocol, make the information transfer and play normal on the voice chip.5. To study the principle of storing and load data in SD card. The ADPCM data compression principle is used to compress the data when the data is stored into the SD card.
