In the background of a transitional China where public crisis and risks have frequentlyarisen in recent years, the public have a different cognition towards various crisis and risksdue to their specific process and outcomes. The purpose of the thesis, therefore, is to makea comprehensive analysis of public discussion of different types.Through both content analysis and text analysis, the thesis conducted four latest casestudies under nature, accidents, public health and social security contextfrom Tianyacommunity forum. First of all, it analyzed the content of four types respectively to see theconflict and interaction between public discourse of Chinese netizens and other discourses,and what are they? Then it made an analysis of how the consensus of crisis is constructedin BBS. Finally, the paper summarized the characteristicsas well as the tendency and putforward communication mode, or framework, of crisis discourse under Chinese network.The core of the paper is it puts forward the characteristics and tendency. It finds thatnetizensunder social context have a common view on elite, the disadvantaged and crisismanagement mechanism. Social sentiments and psychologyare framed through emotionalmobilization (tragic and humorous style), while the social value of a case is framedthrough rational mobilization (collective identity and collective action frame).The innovation of this study lies in the communication model of crisis and risks onChinese network. It is a dynamic process that four collective action frames which aredeveloped with crisis, interact with credibility crisis of elite.The practical value of this study lies in the emerging crisis and risks in recent China,and it is important to make clear how differentdiscourse systems including the public,government, media and experts interacting with each other, while the theoretical value liesin few studies on the discourse of public based on BBSwith a dynamic communicationprocess. It may help to better understanding the localization of crisis communication inChina. That is the innovation of this study.
