Problems of investment duplication and low utilization of network resources exist in the telecommunications industry. To solve these problems, the three largest operators—China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom have been working together on the building and sharing of the telecommunications infrastructure.Building and sharing of the base station can bring benefits in three aspects:full use of the site resources, convenience for construction and maintenance, and reduction in the operation and maintenance costs. However, this may also lead to the augmentation in the electromagnetic radiation amount around a single site. With the large-scale application of wireless communication, the augmentation in the total amount of electromagnetic radiation will make people concern more about the issue that whether the electromagnetic radiation around the mobile base station affects public health. Therefore, it is necessary to make a research on whether the building and sharing of base station will finally meet the national evaluation criteria of electromagnetic radiation. In order to study on the influence exerted by the building and sharing of station base on the electromagnetic radiation performance, this paper has analyzed on the method of calculating the electromagnetic radiation around the base station. In this way, it proposes a simple and effective method of pattern fitting, based on which, the analysis model of the electromagnetic radiation impact is made. Comparing with the measured data, the feasibility of this method has been verified. This paper uses the analysis model to study the electromagnetic radiation performance of different single base stations. Through the combinations of different formats, the possible situations of the building and sharing of the base station in the reality are proposed. Through the simulation test on the radiation situations of different operator base station combinations, radiation distribution under different conditions is found. The research result of this paper can make a reasonable analysis on the location and the configuration of the shared base station. In addition, it can provide the operators with instructive suggestions on the building of the base station so that any loss (include unnecessary disputes or forced relocation or removal due to the failure to meet the requirements of relevant national environment-protection standards after the building) cost by improper site choosing or configuration of the base station can be avoid.
