The Application Research Of Sketchup And ArcGIS In Three-Dimensional Digital Campus

Currently,3D GIS has become one of the hot research directions in GIS field. Compared with the2D GIS, objective world can be shown vividly, stereoscopically, visually in3D GIS, which can not only give people "you-are-there" feeling, but also make3D spatial analysis of spatial entities.3D GIS has been applied in various fields of the society at present. The3D digital campus combined traditional management information system with3D GIS technology is growing.Several common3D visualization softwares were analyzed comparatively in this paper, and a rapid construction solution of3D digital campus was used:accurate3D solid modeling can be realized by SketchUp software, perfect3D spatial analysis can be achieved by ArcGIS platform, which changed the status of previous digital campus study that can only show the scene but cannot analyse the data. Through SketchUp combined with ArcGIS, building an open interactive3D digital campus can not only reduce development difficulty and cycle greatly, but also make the campus has strong functions of query and spatial analysis.According to the specific circumstances of campus in Northeast Forestry University, campus digital orthophoto map (DOM), building texture mapping, fundamental surveying and mapping data were collected and processed. The campus2D vector datas were imported into SketchUp software, different surface entities were built realistic3D models with different modeling methods; the models were saved to the vector data format that GIS can receive; the datas were imported in ArcGIS software,3D digital campus of Northeast Forestry University were developed; level of detail (LOD)and collision detection were adopted to optimize the effect of browsing the scene; a better real-time, interactive and visual3D digital campus was eventually built, whose main functions include3D browsing, information query, spatial analysis, measuring and statistic, navigation map.The study can be used for reference to3D digital campus research and development. A natural realistic3D virtual environment were provided in3D digital campus, which can provide not only decision support for campus resource management, planning and design, but also convenient communication for students, teachers and staff, which have effect on external propaganda, only remote access, people will be able to know the whole school fully and intuitively.
