As one of the hotspots in the digital city construction, 3D GIS not only can make people from the sensory more direct understanding of the real world, but is also able to supply the needs of each trade of traditional geographic information system application. Based on the construction of three-dimensional digital campus visualization system, this paper introduces the detailed design of the overall system, function module and database of 3D visualization system. And discusses the construction of 3D spatial data and visualization of 3D scene. Finally based on ArcGIS Engine module development and using the C# language to development and realize the 3D GIS system. The main contents are as follows:Several common models of 3D spatial data model are analyzed, and the mix of DEM, multipatch data model as the data model of the research area. According to the basic principle of GIS system design, the system of the 3D visualization is design in detail, using three-tier architecture of the system framework. Select Geodatabase database as the database of the system and database system is design, and makes detailed design of the system of 3D browsing, scene management, output of scene, spatial measurement and spatial analysis function module. As an integral part of the important data of 3D visualization system for 3D scene, this paper discusses the establishment of 3D GIS scene, required from the 3D modeling data acquisition, the terrain modeling. And select Chang’an University Yanta campus as the study area for the construction of 3D scene. The C# as the development language, based on Arc GIS Engine, this paper develops the digital campus 3D visualization system, introduces the development process of the system, and the 3D scene browsing function, query of the scene function, spatial interaction measurements function, section analysis function, visibility analysis functionand output of the scene function in details.In this paper, through the construction of digital campus visualization system on the realization of the basic functions such as browsing, query, analysis of a 3D GIS system. Not only shows our campus life, so that we can better get to know the real world that we live in, more the future provides the basis for planning and construction of the campus.
