After three decades of reform and opening up, our country’s journalism has achieved great progress and made remarkable achievements, entering an unprecedented prosperous, active and open period which has been the best of times since the founding of New China. Nonetheless, a great many news media organizations and their employees transgress social morality and professional ethics in our country, which have incurred people’s strong disapproval and criticism. The sustainable and sound development of our country’s news media will inevitably be affected if ethical misconducts can’t be effectively controlled. The ethical misconducts of our country’s news organizations and journalists are primarily reflected as follows:ubiquity of paid news, incessant emergence of fake news after repeated prohibition, vulgar report with abused amusement spread without restriction, large scale and even illegal advertisements, journalists’abuse of their privileges, weak consciousness of responsibility and legal system as well as lack of humanistic care, etc.The causes for ethical journalistic misconducts are relatively complicated, including the industry itself, social orientation, historical abuses, traditional culture, temptation of benefits, distortion of concepts, arrogance resulted from monopoly, imbalance caused by competition, management bias and supervision absence, etc, so it is necessary to conduct comprehensive analysis and acquire a scientific understanding. At present, journalism ethics face new and great challenges in our country. In particular, journalism ethics are more intensely impacted to a greater extent, as more and more complex problems emerge with the popularization of internet and widespread use of new dissemination media (e.g. micro blog). It is not only a practical urgency, but also a long-term task to prevent ethical journalistic misconducts and construct future system of journalism ethics for our country. With regard to guiding ideology, policies shall be established to focus on both inside and outside, treat both symptoms and root causes, take several strategies at the same time and give top priority to what is the most important. Efforts need to be made to draw essence from our countiy’s excellent traditional culture and draw lessons from Western countries’(e.g. Europe and America) thoughts about journalism ethics. Furthermore, social environment shall be created from the perspective of solving the problem on the whole society’s moral deficiency. Meanwhile, it is necessary to facilitate the legislation to seek support, propel transition, improve supervision, change concepts and strengthen self-discipline and so forth.
