Research On Journalism Ethics Of Doctor-patient Dispute Reports

“the Death of Hunan Lying-in Woman” Event occurred in August 2014 had become one of the top ten hot news in 2014 listed by National Health and Family Planning commission of the People's Republic of China.In a very short time, reports on this event had been spread like a virus. Not only did it ca use a big disaster in public opinion but also disrupted social order seriously.As a megaphone, the news media build the reality of doctor-patient relationship all the time. With more and more doctor-patient disputes reported in recent years, it is easier to find that some of these reports act against journalism ethics, such as “the Death of Hunan Lying- in Woman” Event. It makes doctor-patient relationship hurt, and weakens the media function at the same time. Therefore, it is extremely urgent to start a study focused on doctor-patient dispute reports from the perspective of journalism ethics.Based on the connotation of journalism ethics, this research takes reports on “the Death of Hunan Lying- in Woman” as the main object to find the status quo of media's presentation on doctor-patient disputes by analyzing the contents of related reports and the text of two typical reports involving death. And on this basis, this research probes into doctor-patient dispute reports combining with the connotation of journalism ethics and finds the reasons of journalism ethics anomie. Last but not the least, this research tries to propose practical strategies under the current situation.The study found that it was in the early reports that journalism ethics anomie phenomena appear, such as lack of deep mining, lacking of balance and humanitarianism. And there are lots of reasons resulting in journalism ethics anomie. For example, the way of news production has been changed with new communications technology involving in, reporters working for news media lack news values, code of media's conduct lacks guidance, a gap between doctors and patients has been formed under low levels of social trust.The thesis makes some creative effects. In the fifth part of the thesis, some practical strategies are put forward, such as accelerating the work of Journalistic Committee and making the code of conduct concrete to strengthen self-discipline of media. It's also an effective initiative to play the oversight power of C hinese Medical Doctor Association on the basis of complaints or litigations about doctor-patient disputes. And it is a strategic way to guarantee the journalism ethics of doctor-patient dispute reports by constructing a channel of communication between doctors and patients.Doctor-patient disputes are one of the most sensitive fuses in the current environment. Consequently, every member has the responsibility to alleviate doctor-patient disputes. As the social instrument, media should protect not only the freedom of the press but also the legitimate interests of both doctors and patients. And doctor-patient dispute reports are in desperate need of high attention paid by the domestic academia of journalism.
