The field of Information Engineering has made the unprecedented development in the21st century, and computer technology as a core technology has been widely applied to various areas of social life. Virtual reality technology as a leading edge technology of computer science is a compositive high-tech on broadband networks, multimedia and artificial intelligence. As continues evolution in technology, building a virtual laboratory makes possible. Building virtual experiments can greatly promote the development of information technology in education; improve the level of development of China’s education, and which have to be more important significance in the western region owned relativity scarce education resources.Virtual Laboratory uses flat two-dimensional design approach at present, but it has a far from reality experiment in experimental realism, interaction and teaching effectiveness, and cannot meet the needs of the actual teaching. With the development of computer graphics technology and computer graphics performance improved significantly, the desktop virtual reality, only in high-performance computer in the past, now can be normal operation in an ordinary personal computer. Virtual reality technology is therefore reached unprecedented popularity and brought a new vitality for the development of virtual laboratory.This paper analyzes the drawbacks of traditional laboratory, summaries the research status at home and abroad in the virtual experiment. It studies the two-capacity water tank experiments for the experimental teaching of automation professionals based on the process control laboratory. First, it describes the theoretical basis of three-dimensional graphics and several common virtual virtual experimental techniques, studies based on VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) virtual experimental development research, and then propose a combination of technologies based on Matlab and VRML.3D models are built on the process control laboratory environment, experimental setup using VRML, and then using computer graphics and image processing technology process the model. The relativity comparison method is used to study the degree of approximation on realistic laboratory. Using Matlab powerful graphics rendering and computing power as a Backgrounder computing and front-communication tools to build three-dimensional virtual experimental system of automatic control; This article describes the composition of the virtual experiment and its research and development, including mathematical modeling of the controlled object, the choice of different control strategies and how to use the VR Toolbox dynamic displaying of the experiment; Finally, using GUI technology to make a user interface to enable students to be more involved in the design process of the experiment.The virtual experimental system designed in this paper solves the question of the actual dua-capacity water tank experiment by the restrictions of time, place, process and results of laboratory equipment situation and so on. The experimental system platform saves the educational resources of colleges, improves teaching quality, and promotes students’ professional knowledge, learning and research.
