The information society is approaching.With the expansion of communication capacity and the improvement of communication network rate,fiber optical communication has become one important method for information transmission.As all important part of active optical device,optical transceiver has an important position in broadband network system.It not only provides the key function of optical network,but also is the prime cost of optical communication systems,which makes them have advantages of high network bandwidth,long distance to reach.Nowadays SFP transceiver is one of the most advanced package of optical modules. It corresponds to SFP-MSA Agreement and SFF-8472documents.It not just has the advantages of hot-pluggable which means the module can be connected and disconnected to the equipment without cutting off the power supply. It also have high port density,low power consumption,short design cycle and low cost. Furthermore,we can monitor working voltage,working temperature,bias current,Tx optical power and Rx optical power and other parameters in real time.Therefore, the optical network equipments are more intelligent and more reliable. The maintenance work is also simplified.On basis of the above,the thesis makes a research on the small form pluggable optical transceiver module with the digital diagnosis monitor function.According to the realistic condition, the design of transceiver’s monitor system is devised.The main work is listed as followed.(1)The principle of optical modules is introduced.What is more,digital diagnosis and its application are also given out in details.(2)The hardware circuit is designed which corresponds to SFP MSA Agreement,meets the requirement of package and technology qualifications.The rate is achieved to1.25Gbps.(3)According to SFF-8472Agreement,the software of transceiver’s monitor system is designed by using I2C protocol. And the digital diagnosis function is calibrated and inspected.We can monitor some important parameters in real time in order to reflect the actual value.(4) The general information of the light emission is acquired with computer by controlling Agilent86100C instrument. In addition,the auto calibration function of optial power is implemented in order to reduce the complexity and test time,improving testing efficiency.The results show that the monitoring system works out well. The general information is monitored in real time and calibration function is realized automatically so that it guarantees the reliability,feasibility and superiority.
