Consequently new data applications are emerging and are reaching the general public. At the same time the market is witnessing a remarkable explosion of cellular and mobile technologies leading to demand that data applications become available to mobile users.General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) is a packet-based wireless communication service that promises data rates from56up to114Kbps and continuous connection to the Internet for mobile phone and computer users. The higher data rates allow users to take part in video conferences and interact with multimedia Web sites and similar applications using mobile handheld devices as well as notebook computers. GPRS is based on Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication and complements existing services such circuit-switched cellular phone connections and the Short Message Service (SMS).GPRS adds packet-switched capabilities to existing GSM and TDMA networks. The circuit-switched technology has a long and successful history but it is inefficient for short data transactions and always-on service. The packet switched technology has grown in importance with the rise of the Internet and Internet protocol (IP). This paper aims to provide an implementation of a user activity data acquisition system that relies on the Gb interface between the BSS and SGSN services in mobile data network. The objective of this system is to get some simple statistics of the service usage situation through analyzing the signaling and data generated. With these statistics, telecom operators can apply deep data mining technology to these user statistics so as to improve their services.. The traffic of Statistics are obtained by analyzing the SM and GMM messages, encapsulated in IP/UDP on Gb interface.The Gb interface carries the GPRS traffic and signalling between the GSM radio network (BSS) and the GPRS network. Frame Relay based network services is used for this interface. However because of congestion problem and the lower throughput, this interface has been implemented using internet protocol called as the Gb over IPFirstly, this paper discusses the GPRS network architecture, its entities, the interfaces and protocol.
