This paper aims to solve the problems encountered when we apply wireless communication technology to industry and civil fields. The research bases on two projects, the Safety Supervise System based on GSM SMS, and the Flowmeters Data Acquisition System based on GPRS. The design for the two projects, makes the great use of the mobile communication technology.The paper describes the system design at details, including the GSM data terminal equipment, the GPRS data terminal equipment, the hardware design, software design and networks structure. Then analyses the characteristic of the two systems, concludes the difficulties during system designing, and works out their concrete realizing scheme. For the Safety supervise system, the paper makes great effort to research the characteristic of the GSM SMS,and then works out an overall method to ensure the security and reliability of the system.For the flowmeters data acquisition system based on GPRS, the paper researches international Point-to-Point Protocol, completes the program for the GPRS terminal to dial up and establish the wireless link to GPRS. The great contribute for this system is that the paper provides an efficient way, Wake-up-mode, to decrease the high communication fee and make it more efficient at the same time.This paper consists of five chapters:The chapter 1 shows the application of wireless communication in the industry fields and civil fields, and then introduces the contents and the important meanings of this paper.The chapter 2 expatiates SMS and GPRS communication technology at details, including their character, theroy and the means of structuring networks. At last, the author abstracts the difference between GSM SMS and GPRS technology, and give their respective applying fields.Chapter 3 works out the design of the remote safety monitoring system, including the design of GSM terminal equipment and the software of the data center server. The safety and reliability of the system is the most important thing to study during the design process. The paper present a overall method for the system's security and reliability, according to the characteristic of SMS and the feature of the safety monitoring system. The tests show that it's correct and efficacious.Chapter 4 mainly discusses another wireless communication technology, General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). This chapter introduces the wireless meters data acquisition and monitoring system based on GPRS communication technology. Realizing the disadvantage of the system, high communication fee, the paper puts forward an efficient Wake-up-mode to decrease the fee and describes the concrete design, both the hardware and the software.
