Based on advanced development technologies and thinkings in architecture design, along with the requirement of application server for communication value added services of my company, this article discussed the process of design and implementation process of an application server supporting value added services written by USML—an markup language defined by my company. This article discusses the methods to implement an application server (SLEE) which can run USML documents. Using these methods, SLEE can load and run USML documents dynamically, it can provide APIs to applications run on SLEE to interactive with telecommunication network; It can call external computing resources to complete distributed computing; In addition, SLEE provides accounting and authentication function; It can interpose the interactive process between users and telecommunication services to provide value added service to end users. This article discusses the requirement of value added services at present and in the near future. Besides current ways to access service such as PSTN, SMS, MMS, E-mail, this article discusses new requirement of applications server in IMS architecture. This article discusses the way to develop SLEE using Java language. This article discusses the actions in the development process of SLEE, such as architecture design, detail design, coding, testing, and so on. It discusses how to achieve highlevel requirement on schedule, cost and quality.By completing the process discussed in this article, SLEE accepted by polit project finally and deployed in vast of projects successfully. This product takes the key role in product line of my company, and it makes contribution to my company.
