The Study Of Library Core Values Upon The Confucianism

In the human history, the library as an ancient and important enterprise,which has experienced ups and downs of the development process. One question is hidden behind the extraordinary history:"Why does the library has such a tenacious vitality?" Obviously, because one aspect of the library’s functions has meet the needs of social development, the library has its value to the society. Now, with the gradual development of information markets, the library is facing more and more threats and challenges, these have brought the librarians with anxieties and confusions. Facing all sorts of puzzles, the library public figures start thinking about their own missions and responsibilities, and how to make the library’s development has a clear direction and goal? This involves the exploration of the library core value and its understanding. The library core value permeates the whole process and all lever of the library enterprise, it’s the soul and center of the library organization, It causes the library librarians to be more clear about his(her) professional ideas, and enhance his(her) profession self-confidence, and also melt his(her) profession anxiousness, as well as it gives the words and deeds to a librarian to guide and judge the standards of his(her) deed instruction and judgment standard. Especially our society present is building socialism core value system, the various trades and occupations emerged to create their own core value, these demand library enterprise should pay serious attention to the core value of their own.In recent years, the scholars of the library science, library association and library community committee’s etc, especially the flourishing nations of the international are all studying the core value of the library strongly, some nations also constitute some achievements. The research in our country about the library core value begins from Chinese Library Association’s summit in2007, and it is has become a hot issue. But the domestic library scholar’s viewpoints are different, they have not formed a unified approval viewpoint, they have the situation of blind copy overseas’experiences. How does our country’s library core value unify with our country realistic national condition? And what is the realization of it? These are the blank or the weakness of the existing research.This research launches according to the logic sequence, and mainly bases in solving the following key questions:base on the domestic and foreign research foundation, the author try to explore how to build a localized and content features of our nation’s library core value, and causes it to tally with our country existing national conditions, and also proposes the way of its realization. This core value not only need conform to the core value orientation which various countries’library approves together, but also inherit our country’s outstanding tradition value idea, and finally presents the local implication of our country’s library science research.Firstly, the library core value’s research background cannot leave three kind of factors: the national politics, the market economy as well as library’s development, the research significance is helpful in promoting the library enterprise’s development, and stimulates the librarian’s zealous of work, and has also enriches the library science’s theory research. The library core value’s research stems from the practice need of its internal and external work, its final goal lies in promotes the development of the library enterprise and library science theory.Secondly, the results of domestic and foreign research about library core value both have the common traits and the different traits. The level of domestic research falls behind the developed countries, we should learn from foreign experiences on the basis of library core value’research, and unifies our country’s national conditions to explore library core value which has our national characteristics.Thirdly, the library core value’s research needs to form a clear understanding about its related concepts. This article has analyzed the meaning of the value; values; value idea and culture; core value and library core value, and has formed the in-depth understanding about the connotations of the above concepts.Fourthly, the author has constructed the library core value which based on the Confucian thought, and specifically discussed the connotation, the structure, the function and the characteristic of the library core value. These are also the biggest innovations in this article.Fifthly, in the foundation of library core value theory, the author has discussed the way of its realization, as well as explores the principles, support conditions, applications and the methods of realization of the library core value. The author has cited the investment as an empirical analysis to support the idea this paper supported.Sixthly, the author has carried on the summary to the full paper, and has drawn the main research conclusions, as well as has summarized the research work and the academic innovation of this paper, finally, explained the studies’limitation as well as the future research’s forecast in this article.
