Nowadays,3D display technology is gradually going into people’s life as thehottest display technology. Audience’s pursuit of high presence and sense of reality isnot only the weapon of3D display, but also the source of power for the development ofthe3D display technology. However,3D crosstalk is the greatest constraint ofintroducing the3D display technology into household and further development. Thisdissertation analyzes the causes and process of the3D crosstalk, and discusses how toreduce and eliminate the3D crosstalk effectively.(1) In this dissertation, we introduce the principles of how human eyes getthree-dimensional visual effect form the3D screen, which is based on thehuman eyes’ binocular parallax, the depth of perception and stereo vision. Wesum up the analysis above to propose three necessary conditions to achieve the3D stereoscopic display.(2) We analyze the causes of the3D crosstalk and the impact of the3D displayquality, and propose the definition of the3D crosstalk, calculation principle of3D crosstalk and the method to determine the3D crosstalk luminance. In thisdissertation, we extend the black and white mode3D crosstalk calculationmethod to gray-gray mode3D crosstalk estimation method which is moreconsistent with the real world.(3) In this dissertation, we analyzed the theory and shortcomings of the nocrosstalk polarized3D display system based on the backlight control mode. And we propose a no crosstalk polarized3D display system for the purpose ofeliminating the3D crosstalk: orthogonally polarized3D display system basedon the scan mode. Then we describe the basic structure and working principleof the no crosstalk3D display systems in detail. We analyzed the process andprinciples of the no crosstalk3D display system. After that, we analyze andintroduce the device design ideas and the required drive signal of the TNsub-display which is the core components of the orthogonally polarized3D display system based on the scan mode.(4) At last, we deduce the electricity controlled birefringence phenomenon of theliquid crystal, and study the design and preparation process of the TN typeliquid crystal cell. After that, we select the material to produce a TN type liquidcrystal cell for test. In the experiment, we use electro-optic effect experimentsof TN-OWS cell to verify the feasibility of the TN-OWS as the TN sub-displayof the orthogonally polarized3D display system based on the scan mode. Forthe3D crosstalk of orthogonally polarized3D display system, we compare andanalyze the experiment of zero electric field normal incidence, different voltagenormal incidence and viewing angle characteristics.
