The control system of Expressway LED display is mainly used in control the variable information board. In the control center management, the system can send weather information, road status, traffic jam and leading information, in order to enhance the strain ability of traffic management, realize the target of the traffic management—speed, safe, comfortable and high efficiency.The main work is to design LPC2214 at the core of the entire system software and hardware, Achieved font handling, adjusting brightness and scanning display through the serial port and PC communications.The main work include:1) By study the need of the control system of expressway LED display, the capability and the peripheral circuit configuration of the ARM7-LPC2214 was analysed and discussed; the design parameter and the selective principle of the peripheral CMOS chip circuit was brough forward.2) Based on the completion of the ARM7 - LPC2214 expressway LED display control system design program was accomplished and the discussion was also taken.3) On the base of the blue print, the ARM controller, auto-adjusting of the lighteness, figure LED module, character-base and basic figure module, serial interface communication, the designning, facture and debugging of the power supply circuit was accomplished.4) The software of the whole control system, including system BOOT and configure, function unit software, communication frame structure, designning and debugging of communication software module was accomplished.5) The academic analysis was taken; the spot running and emulational test were accomplished too.The result of the study—Expressway LED display control system, which has passed times tests, is using in batches in Shandong province successfully.
