The stage effects which traditional stage control system can achieve have no longer meet people’s pursuit of the colorful stage for artistic effect as well as safe, reliable and real-time synchronization requirements. In this paper, the stage control system based on the POWERLINK Ethernet bus. POWERLINK’s performance of high-speed, high reliability and characteristics of fully distributed control system ensure the communication of data real-time, intelligent, open, and safety between the system control unit(stage controller). The stage controller’s FPGA and ARM hardware design architecture can ensure that the system has sufficient control functions.Firstly the paper analyzes POWERLINK’s principle, structure and technical performance and the stage control system network connectivity requirements and design network connectivity program. Then the paper analysis control functions of the stage control system, design the hardware circuit program and calculations the key hardware modules of schematic. Introduce the control functions of the host computer console and system redundancy requirements, complete the design of the system data frame communication protocol and configures send and receive configuration parameters of the managing and controlled node of the network. Design the structure of system feedback frame, system control frame and node feedback frame node control frame and calculates the send and receive mapping parameters. Design FPGA and NiosII program structure and ARM program flowchart, analyzes the interrupt source, priority, and functionality of interrupt subroutine. Finally, the NIC driver structure and execute the function are introduced and the host computer console test software design language and procedural framework are determined.The scheme design related to the feasibility of the entire subject study, so design and verification stage control system scheme has become the key elements of this subject, and the most impotent element is network connectivity scheme. Firstly system scheme in the series of the early network connectivity scheme research, uses the theory of authentication methods to determine that it meets the communication cycle and synchronization accuracy requirements, and then the subject do experiment to verify that the theoretical analysis is correct and the design of stage controller is feasible.In this paper, the design of the stage control system can connect128stage controller and achieve10ms communication cycle and100us synchronization accuracy. Redundant network connections, NiosⅡ and ARM control mode and dual backup of host computer can ensure the reliability of the stage control system. So the system can meet the performance requirements for current and coming period stage control and it can give powerful impetus to the development of the stage control technology.
