With the rapid development of communication, embedded computingand sensor technology, wireless sensor networks(WSNs) technologies aregetting more and more mature and the use of WSNs are becomingincreasingly popular in military application, environmental protection, precision agriculture, medical application and other fields.By using WSNstechnology, accurately monitoring and controlling the temperature, humidity, light, nutrients and other elements of the crops in the greenhouse to improvethe quality and yield, is the future direction of precision agriculture. Therefore, it has great significance of researching greenhouse application, which is based on WSNs, for agricultural modernization and intelligence ofChina. The thesis first introduced the development of wireless sensor network, the development of greenhouse monitoring and controlling system, andZigBee technology. On this basis, the project mainly researched onnetworking mechanism between router and other nodes, including formnetwork, add nodes, delete nodes and exit network. This project raised theoverall design of greenhouse monitoring system, and then, researched anddesigned endpoint, router, coordinator and embedded gateway. The threenodes are composed by the CC2430chip, temperature and humidity sensors, serial port, and expansion interface. The software was ported by TI’s ZigBeeprotocol Z-Stack and added personalized node information. The embeddedgateway which was designed by Samsung’s chip S3C2440A, the NIC(network interface card) DM9000EP and other peripheral, was portedU-Boot, Linux2.6kernel, the Web server BOA and the embedded databaseSqlite to build the operating system environment. In this good environment, the CGI (Common Gateway Interface) interface was used to interact withthe Web application. In order to achieve the heterogeneous network interaction and displaydata real-time, wireless sensor network nodes communicated each otherwith Z-Stack protocol, and the coordinator exchange data with embeddedgateway by serial port, and the embedded gateway itself converted thereceived data through the CGI interface into HTML (Hypertext MarkupLanguage) format which the web browser could recognize, and sent to theremote browser. The greenhouse monitoring system the project achieved to was simple, easy to operate, could monitor the real-time changes of temperature andhumidity in the greenhouse through the remote network, could providefarmers information effectively and in time. The system without complicatedwiring, reducing the point of failure, reducing costs, and having goodscalability, lays the foundation for the further development of thegreenhouse monitoring and controlling system, and there is a wideapplication prospect and practical value.
