The construction process of a project is under the influence of various factors, namely the singleness of the project, the temporality of organization, the discreteness of the production system and the randomness of field control, and thus cannot be easily predicted. The unpredictability of it gives rise to some problems such as the change of construction plan, rework of a project and so on. The application of computer simulation on project construction enables the prediction of construction process. At present, simulation technology has not been widely adopted in construction industry compared with in other industrial areas. In this paper (study), theories and methods concerning project construction simulation are broadened by the analysis of project construction simulation process and the construction of ergonomics-based simulation model.In this study, the framework of project construction simulation, which includes engineering physics model, human work model and task model, is constructed. Engineering physics model designing project mechanical property is adopted for the statistics gathering of quantities produced by qualified physics model. On the basis of quantities and construction technology, human work model is responsible for the categorization of project procedures and actions involved and thus data of workload, time consumption, energy metabolism and security is obtained through Ergonomics modeling. Task model is adopted for establishing a network linking all project procedures based on CPM and linking all actions through CYCLONE model; furthermore, project construction simulation is achieved on the basis of both CPM and CYCLONE modeling. It is achieved in accordance with the framework of project construction simulationIn this study, ergonomics, CPM and CYCLONE are combined for the establishment of the framework of project construction simulation which based on the case study of construction formwork engineering. Therefore, the framework and model obtained through the case study can contribute to the theoretical study of project construction simulation. Moreover, the software developed through the case study is also contributive to its practical application.
