The ChongQing nail-house holders incident in China gave birth to a special group, which was called Citizen Journalist. As a new type of communicator, the citizen journalists originated in the 1990s when the citizen journalism emerged in the U.S.A. Both of the two were inseparable with the mature of the political concept and form of civil society. The arrival of the web 2.0 era made the citizen journalists' significance space become more widespread. As non-professional communicators, citizen journalists not only subverts the traditional ecological spread by the mass, expanded the right to control speaking areas, but also represents the possibility of a universal participation in the democratic issues. It also because of the double influence brought about by the citizen journalists in the journalism field and political environment that journalism scholars and sociology, political circles carried out a series of studies.Begin with the concept of citizen journalists, this paper discussed the special background, the distinction with the traditional reporters, features and the breakthrough significance of the citizen journalists. It also highlighted the famous Korean citizen reporter website OhMyNews, lighted the national conditions of China to explore the influent space of the citizen journalists in the realities in China. At last, the paper prospected to the development trend of citizen journalists in the future.
