The magnitude9.0Tohoku earthquake shocked Japan on Mar.11th,2011. What’s worse was the lost resulted from several following secondary disasters, such as Tsunami, nuclear leakage and fire. It is this earthquake that made the word "Disaster reports" even sharper in front of the world. It is countless that the disasters our world has been through within only2010.It is becoming a common topic for countries or the whole world that how to pay attention and deal with the disasters; for journalists or reporters, the task is how to report them properly and in time. However, due to the new and developing features of "disaster reports", as well as its important position in news professionalism, it is critically valuable to compare the ways of reporting disasters between China and USA, as well as to find the possible improvements for our television disaster reports.We compared the disaster reports (for the same event) from CBS 《60minutes》 and CCTV 《News Probe》 in2011based on related principles of news narratology. Then comprehensive case analyses were conducted from aspects of narrative perspective, narrated subject, and narrative structural, and from which we found the reasons led to such differences. To provide a somewhat accurate grading system and more persuasively comparative analyses, the author translated all of the studied script of 《60minutes》.In addition, the possible inspirations and improvement from the 《60minutes》 for our television disaster reports were discussed and provided.
