2G\3G interoperability optimization is a new subject in China Unicom after The deployment of WCDMA network, whose major goal is let users can use2G network when3G network coverage of insufficient, also can keep the users’ business uninterrupted, so2G network can be the necessary support and supplement for3G network.This paper discussed the parameters of2G\3G interoperability optimization, which can enables mobile users can fully retained in the3G network, enjoying3G services, and can transition to the2G network to carrying user service while the user in an3G network coverage area.2G and3G is two different network standard, whose switching and reselection algorithm is very complex. The current2G\3G interoperability includes voice and data services in system switching and reselection, which including triggering threshold, the triggering time and other dozens of parameters. Parameter configuration’s complex and successful experience of less is the main difficulty to carry out2G\3G interoperability optimization. In order to understand the affection of specific parameter settings, the research use lots of test and experiment, which can comparative the business impact of various parameter settings, and combined with the perception by the user to determine the final combined parameters configuration.This paper Refines the3G weak coverage area for3G covering edge scene,3G coverage hole scene,3G fast fading scene and the freeway scene.According to each scene’ wireless environment and the user behavior, respectively related to switching and reselection parameter setting, which can make every scene’s configuration parameters conform to the scene of the actual characteristics, can better to complete interoperability action and ensure the user perception.This topic mainly completed four kinds of parameter configuration’s experiment for switching and reselection, and summed up four kinds of scene configuration parameters which will eventually result in the unicom of Inner Mongolia, this can enable improve the mobile user perception, improve the network’s performance, greatly save the investment in the network, and have greater significance of practical application.
