Control of the press is refered to management and constraints of Journalism by a variety of social forces in Specific social and historical environment. It is social control in the field of social communication. The executor of control is the dominant power in the propagation structure, object fo control is the journalism and news media, the purpose of news control is intended to make the news media in progress in charge of the executors and work for governing political and economic power. In ancient China, control of the press a powerful tool of the feudal rulers to engage social management and class oppression with distinguishing inequal feature.Analysis on the press control of Song dynasty means study all kinds of structure powers which affect journalism and communication, based on the study of Journalism History of this period. Analyze the the subject, object, means, methods, effects of News control in Song Kingdom. Because the news control of Song dynasty is against discipline of communication, obstruct the development of journalism in Song.Summary the exhortation of the press control in Song Dynasty we concluded that:First, the news media as part of the superstructure area, bound by the economic base, the existence of control has the necessity and inevitability, the reasonable control is necessary for social stability and development. Second, control of the press must be within certain limits, the fundamental purpose of control of the press is to promote journalism and social progress,\protect the freedom of the press rather than limit this right. Third, the contemporary China and the Song Dynasty in the key nodes of social transformation, so reasonable control of the press play an important function to promote social development.
