GPS is the satellite navigation and positioning system, it’s developed by the United States, which can provide many services including high-precision positioning, navigation and timing services and so on. With the development of GPS technology, the applications are also more widely. The rapid development from military field to civilian field, more and more GPS receivers embedded in the portable consumer products, indicating that the GPS receiver products have become a hot topic with the actual value. The core of the GPS receiver products is a GPS chip, through it can be designed to meet different functional requirements of the GPS products. Relative to domestic, The European and American countries of the GPS receiver scheme has been relatively mature, in order to break the GPS receiver of foreign technical monopoly, the development with independent intellectual property rights of the GPS receiver has the important practical significance.GPS RF front-end is a part of the receiver, the performance of a direct impact on the rest of the receiver module processing, determining the performance of the GPS receiver. In this thesis, basis on the GPS system and the principle of receiver, the HV5820RF front-end chip was selected which is designed by Shenzhen Highvision Technology Co.,Ltd. Ensure that the GPS receiver RF front-end with low noise figure, low power consumption and high gain and so on characteristic, we choose low-noise amplifier BGA715L7chips, band-pass filter B9444chip and other components of the antenna unit and HV5820RF chip, local oscillator of the RF unit, Will be the high-frequency GPS analog signal into a digital IF signal.In this thesis, mainly to design the circuit of the antenna unit, RF unit and power unit then to the PCB layout and the function and performance test of the GPS RF front-end. Be seen from the test results, the GPS RF front-end will convert GPS signals to the digital IF signal, and the total noise figure of it was low, indicating the design of the GPS RF front-end has good performance.
