Power system communication is an important and indispensable component,itdirectly relates to the security,economic, and reliable operation of’powersystem.Recently,witll the rapid development of cities and the increase in powerusers.The scale of distribution network continues to expand,and the position ofpower system monitors may change at any time.All these situations pose greatchallenges to power system communication,how to collect monitoring data atlow—cost in a multi-point wide range has become an important issue for the powersystem engineers.With the development of broadband access technology,WiMAX wireless accessnetwork are more and more popular.WiMAX is focal for high data speed,coverwidespread and low cost in communication domain.For the future.WiMAX can takea makeup for3G and also deploy absolutely.Thus,the planning methods and tools forWiMAX wireless networks have drawn more and more attentions.Network simulation technology is an efficient analysis tool to study the networkproject and design.But how to model and simulate the communication system is achallenging task. This design by using OPNET network simulation software to set upWiMAX network topology model, the application layer process node model, processmodel for link layer and run simulation Ethernet delay, server load and link point topoint utilizati on under different load and bandwidth is studied Network performancecould be improved by increasing the net work bandwidth.According to the key tecnology of WiMAX,on the basis of analysis ofsimulation,such as the BPSK and QPSK,16QAM and64QAM,we have draw aconclusion that the bit-error-ratio of OFDM in difference modulation model.In thefourth chapter, we build a model of the Power system communication,and analyse theConnectivity of the model.Finally,the OPNET Modeler is used to model and simulate a packet switchingnetwork,through which to get the result of end-to-end delay and link utilizationratio,then to evaluate the performance of the network. The application of OPNETModeler in network project and design is discussed throughthe example.
