With the rapid development of communication, BWA (broad wireless access) which is an important part of wireless communication technology also has extensive applied foreground and huge development potential. WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access)which locate in the wireless metropolitan area networks takes the IEEE 802.16 series wide band wireless standard as a foundation can provide BWA with more wide area and higher rate. So this wireless access technology can displays its superiority especially in area where there is a lack of basic infrastructure. WiMAX networks which affected by the influence of not have the fixed assignment frequency band, is not developed for a long time. In recently years, some countries and areas assigned frequency to it, so WiMAX networks became taken seriously and used by people step by step. But these uses are partial and experimental. So It is very necessary to build some models that conforms to the 802.16 protocol and meaningful to do some simulations on a network simulation software.First of all, this paper has a study and research on the IEEE 802.16e protocol, than, has a secondary development of the BS (Base Station) and MSS (Mobile Subscriber Station) function model that conforms to the 802.16e protocol by OPNET, finally build an experiment networks. Finaly, using HLA to achieve each node information exchange of 802.16e modeling, making the simulation more close to reality and be able to make each individual simulation accuracy can be improved.This article main research content is as follows:1. Summarized the development of WiMAX technology and its features.2. Done some research of the OPNET on the develop environment, modeling methods, key technology (three-tier modeling, discrete event driven, communication simulation), and data collection of the simulation result.3. OPNET software has been comprised with 802.11 series of protocols and the simulation model of equipment, however, this software has not 802.16e series of protocols module. This thesis has done some researches with OPNET on the node and protocol domain of BS and MSS of the 802.16e networks, especially researched on the protocol of the BS and MSS node. Written and researched the entrance, exit and FB function of some module. Making the models of process domain and node domain join into OPNET library, then generating object modules. According to the object modules, we establishing 802.16e network simulation platform. Simulated the communication schedule of the Simulation Module, and then tested the throughput of the link and network delay. Validate the feasibility of 802.16e Protocol Network.4. According to the relevant principles of High Level Architecture (HLA), combined with OPNET and Run Time Infrastructure (RTI), we designed 802.16e system structure and function modules based on HLA/ OPNET. The trial network is that the 802.16e network which building in the fourth chapter of this article, add a HLA control module, and made network simulation analysis. Through the simulation network, achieving MSS data exchanging, the time to promote, simulation management between IEEE 802.16e network nodes, and improved the accuracy and stability of network communication. That solve the problems that high-speed 802.16e network mobile node can not be realized in higher data access.
