Citizen journalism has appeared to the United States and South Korea around2000. Itappeared with the arising of drudge report.com and Ohmynews. Later in the world’s majoremergencies such as911terrorist attack, London subway bombings and southeast Asiatsunami, the we-media reports from witnesses attracted people’s attention., and the power ofthe citizen journalism has been recognized by the traditional media and the general public.With the development of Internet technology, we media has become a powerful platform forcitizen journalism. Even if the general public can also release news as reporters. Because ofthis the citizen’s enthusiasm of participating in social affairs has improved greatly. However,with the development of the citizen journalism, there are some issues beginning to appear,such as the authenticity of news, the objectivity of news and so on. In order to point theadvantage of citizen journalism, we choose citizen journalism as the analysis subject. Exceptof this, we can also find some disadvantage of citizen journalism, and then we make somerules to make sure that it will develop well.After the system analysis of the citizen journalism under the we-media period, we cansee that the citizen journalism is different from traditional news in communicators andcommunicating. Besides, citizen journalism has effect on gatekeeper and agenda settingtheories. In spreading effect, citizen journalism plays a great role in China’s current social lifeand political form. Overall, although citizen journalism still exists some problems in thecurrent development, this can’t take away the positive contribution made by citizenjournalism in the development of Chinese society. The reason why these problems exist hassomething to do with our country’s news system and public media literacy. Hoping that withthe improvement of news system and public media literacy, citizen journalism will be moremature and perfect.
