With the high speed development of large scale integrated circuit and micro computer, provide the rise opportunity for the image industry. Make it towards the development of high-speed, high performance, convenient and intelligent. At the same time it means be expanded from static images into dynamic continuous image. With the development of the microelectronics industry, there has been a large number of high-performance, low-cost, low-power RISC embedded processors, signal processing and transmission conversion to a single-chip processing from the computer processing. Therefore, studies of image acquisition and transmission under the microcontroller is important to make image related equipment miniaturization and professional development. This article designed and implemented a image transmission system based on SOPC technology, FPGA as the main chip, the USB as the transmission media.Firstly, after the investigation of the image acquisition and transmission, proposed research program based on SOPC, discussed the detail of basic SOPC system, include:the CPU, RAM, DMA, CFI FLASH, SRAM, UART and Etc, and developed drivers of the relevant controller. Then high-speed data transmission was implemented based on the USB2.0, and a USB controller is presented. Then the details of CY68013is discussed, the development of firmware and endpoint configuration is completed. At the same time Avalon bus controller is developed and its drivers.Image acquisition design is the core module of the system, control the image sensor and condition the received image data, include of I2C controller module, image controller module, FIFO controller module. At the last, the main program of the NIOS II is completed, proposed a method of DMA ping-pong to read and write SRAM, improved the efficiency of data transmission. AS expected, the system achieved image data acquisition and transmission of Gray-scale images and color images at the speed of30fps.
