In recent years, the technology about Internet of things has become a hot spot and emphasis in the information industry around the world. At present, the research and application about internet of things technology are still in the initial stage of M2M model posed by telecom operators early years ago. As to M2M scheme, many telecom operators have lead out some typical department solutions based on M2M data transmission case by their operating mobile communication network several years ago. But with the development of imformation technology day by day all walks of life,trans-department and trans-industry more intelligent interconnection need is following one by one,accompanying data communication throughput rapidly rising. Because of the third generation digital mobile communication system technologies coming into mature and large-scale business deployment, it is sufficient to cope with the bearer need of the more and more M2M data transmission traffice flow. Moreover, in order to make internet of things being interconnection among the various or vertical departments just like the traditional mobile networks, it is essential to build a integrate platform about operating and maintaining for internet of things. How to realize this platform and how to develop a universal M2M access gateway based on this framework is the urgent task to study in this paper.This paper, in the perspective of the telecom operators, designs a universal M2M access gateway based on CDMA20001xEV-DO packet data-transmission network under the framework of integrate platform about operating and maintaining for larger scale application in the internet of things industry. Besides, we implement a specific remote telemedicine monitoring case based on this gateway prototype by secondary development in the up and down links.In this paper, firstly, the connotation and relevance between internet of things and M2M concept are briefly presented as well as the technology of CDMA20001x EV-DO network. Secondly, the need of software and hardware demand analysis and functional module design are briefly introduced.After that, drivers design in the physical and link layers are carried out and configured. And then.interactive process between the gateway and platform of M2M operating and maintaining from the top application layer is designed in details. Morevoer, we take the remote telemedicine monitoring as the application blackgroud based on the M2M gateway, the perception data collected by bluetooth channel in the down-link and processed-data uploaded by http protocol in the up-link are devised. Besides, a simply man-machine interaction design is given based on Minigui to enhance the operability and agreeableness for M2M gateway. After the gateway system design is completed, this system is tested and verified between the universal M2M platform and medical analysis-flat, and got the satisfy result. Finally, the summative report for this medical gateway prototype design is introduced, and the extended research and design deeply in the future as well as the areas for improvement about the M2M gateway prototype in remote telemedicine monitoring are proposed.
