With the rapid development, Embedded System has been paid great attention inrecent years. Featured with compact size, low power-consumption, easy fordevelopment and short R&D cycle, which are not endowed with PC, EmbeddedSystem is applied in the commercial and industrial fields. Now Embedded System isclosely connected with network. When connected with internet, the system is capableof sending and receiving data instantly, extending its function and application.For the purpose of community service, this thesis gives a creative solution forinformation acquisition, identity authentication and civic management. Datainformation is collected by an embedded data-acquisition terminal with the embeddedsystem, and then sent to the server in a community agency. Finally informationacquisition and identity authentication are completed.In this project, the device is composed of a Sumsung S3C2440chip as the coreprocessor of the embedded terminal, the embedded Linux as the software platform, aRFID reading module with a MFRC500RF chip, a USB camera, a U-blox NE0-5MGPS receiving chip, and a LCD screen. Among the components, the RFID modulereads the information on residents’ RFID cards; the USB camera acquires imageinformation of the residents; the GPS receiving chip collects geographical locationinformation and sends the packed information to the server; and the LCD screendisplays the acquired information. On account of practical application, thedata-acquisition terminal transmits information through WLAN card module whenconnected with community WLAN.The thesis introduces how the functions are implemented, including hardwarecircuit design and related programs of GPS and RFID chips, drive configurations ofcamera module, image acquisition, decoding JPEG data, displaying on the LCDscreen, drive transplant of WLAN card module and data transmission through a TCPnetwork. Besides, the thesis explains how the server program is written by VC++6.0.This program is used for verifying the acquisition terminal, receiving data, saving dataand displaying data.Implementing all the expected functions and operating long enough, the acquisitionterminal is able to collect required information, connect with the server and transmitdata. The device validates the original assumptions and meets the initial requirements.
