Wireless Sensor Network is a new-born modern technology networksystem which consists of tons of nodes. It consists of tons of sensor nodeswhich are in charge of processing data and which have the capability ofwireless communications. WSN is a developing product of wirelesstechnology and computer technology and network technology. With thedevelopment of sensor technology and communication technology,wirelesssensor network is developing faster and faster. Some successfulapplication systems have already been used in military field and people’sdaily life and medical fields and so on.We can see that WSN has a brightprospect and a broaden application span.In this article I will first introduce and analyze the concept and thetraits of WSN in great details. Plus, I will also analyze its insidestructure and working principle. Besides, current important technologyand the technology difficulty and challenges we are facing now will beintroduced as well. Moreover, the function and designing goal of routingprotocols are introduced and analyzed in details, including itsevaluation standards which are very vital in routing protocols designprocess. Routing protocols consist of many different kinds according totheir differences of inside structures and working principles. In thispaper, the author choose a few typical routing protocols, analyzing themand comparing and contrasting them from different points of view.LEACH(Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy,LEACH) is a classicrouting algorithm for wireless sensor network. Its merits are that it canadapt and correct itself quickly, besides it is suitable for a large span.But LEACH also has its own big flaws. For example, lifetime of networkis short,energy consumption is high and so on. So I proposed anotheralgorithm which is an improvement based on LEACH algorithm. That is calledLEACH-L. I added time-delay and changed its communication methods toimprove the quality of algorithm.At last, I simulated both of the algorithms from different standards.At the same time,I also analyzed and contrasted the results. Simulationresults showed that LEACH-L has better performance in energy consumption,network lifetime.That proves that the improved algorithm LEACH-L has better quality and capability.
