The rapid growth of wireless communications has led to the shortage of spectrumresources, so the networks should have the capacity of finding and destroying the illegalradio to improve the frequency spectrum utilization. As a new network, wireless sensornetworks (WSN) have been widely used because of its self-organizing characteristic, robustness, stronger concealed. The network can locate the destination node with thecollaborative tracking, be of higher position accuracy. Therefore, location technique inWSN will be studied thoroughly in this thesis.Firstly, in this thesis, several typical techniques of time delay estimation (TDE) areintroduced and their relative merits are compared in detail by simulation. Generalcorrelation coefficient algorithm (GCC) is taken as the TDE algorithm, and improved inengineering to enhance the time accuracy. Secondly, the node localization scheme isstudied in the third chapter. Through the pratical tests, the self-position error of globalposition system (GPS) receiver is calculated, which lays the foundation for the WSNlocalization. Lastly, several typical techniques of time difference of arrival (TDOA) areintroduced and their relative merits are compared in detail, and Chan is taken as thefinal algorithm of the WSN localization. In this paper, the detailed simulation of theperformances of Chan algorithm is given out in LOS and NLOS. Meanwhile, thesimulation of Chan algorithm is given out when TDE error is-10~10ns, PPS error is-15~15ns and self-position of GPS receiver error is-2~2m, which shows that a higherposition accuracy can be obtained under this three errors. In summary the algorithmproposed in this thesis with good performance is easy to realize and satisfies systemrequirements.
