Modern radar application requirements become more numerous, and the radar working environments is also becoming more complex. Both of these greatly urged the development of radar signal processing technology. In order to improve radar target detection and processing capacity, a variety of advanced processing algorithms gradually applied to radar signal processing system.The marine radar’s main function is detecting targets and ascertaining the locations. Thus, its main task is detecting the target echo in noise and clutter. To increase the ability of finding the target,more advanced digital signal processing technology is adopted. The radar echo signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) can be improved through the accumulation of the video signal, thereby the radar target detection probability will be improved too. This paper focuses on the two accumulation targets detection methods, the two-layered accumulation of sliding window detection and the two-pole feedback detection. We discussed the principles and the advantages of the two types of detectors, and analyzed the impact of filter coefficients to the detector performance. By calculating the best coefficient and improve the filter structure and taking other measures, we can increase the radar detecting capability. The paper further discusses the implementation of each algorithm on the DSP chip, providing theoretical basis and implementation for radar further miniaturization and intelligence. When enhancing the performance of the radar, we can greatly expand the usage of the radar through the network, which can also improve the flexibility of the radar. The paper also gives the predigestion of TCP/IP network protocol for embedded applications, and gives its implementation in the DSP.The paper is divided into two parts of target detection and echo data network transmission. The engineering verification of the two theories are both based on the SDZ616radar signal processor experiment platform. The core of the system is constituted of high-performance DSP and FPGA.The system consists of two TMS320series DSP productions of TI(C6713B and the C6416) and two FPGA productions of XILINX(the XC5VLX30and XC5VLX50). The system has superior performance. The C6713B DSP implement radar target accumulation detection and network transport protocol is verified in the C6416DSP. After the design and optimization of DSP software programing, SDZ616platform connected to the radar equipment on the laboratory building roof via the interface circuit. It’s proved that the radar target detection capability has been greatly improved, and the echo data can be transmited to the remote host through the network in real time.
