Plant is an important part of natural world. Because there are a great variety of plants, theyhave complex structure and different forms. The research of Virtual plants becomes hotspot ofscholars based on phytology, computer graphics, mathematical statistics and visualizationtechnology using computer technology. The methods of modeling virtual plant appear a lot. Theresearch of virtual plants is about morphological structure of plant individual and plantpopulation,then applies quantitative biology characteristics and reconstruct growth procedureof plant using visualization technology, which refers to the joint of many subjects.With the widespread use of virtual plants in field of agriculture science, forestry, plantecology, systems biology, landscape design, it has an important significance in simulating plantmorphological structure combining with plant ecophysiology more effective, refining types ofplants and expanding modeling methods. The paper defines dispersive growth with selfsimilarity and randomness, even researches and develops dynamical growth model---basic DLA(Diffusion Limited Aggregation).DLA model is applied in dispersive growth of plants. Thepaper classifies plant form in a new point of view and proposes simulation of plant form basedon DLA. The method makes a beneficial supplement to model character of plant.The research begins with representative modeling method for virtual plants, and thenanalyzes and compares other methods to propose dispersive growth of plant and character ofgrowing plant. In order to express dispersive character of growth, we introduces DLA model,which belongs to dynamical growth model in simulating plants. This paper improves DLAmodel and simulates dispersive character of herbaceous plant fibrous root system. At lastrelated plant morphology is simulated based on the referred method. A simple simulated systemis designed to show effect, which becomes convenient for users to observe and compare.According to actual procedure of research and implement, this paper includes 5 aspects:1. Analysis and comparison of common modeling methodsConcluding several plant modeling methods in common use, analyzing their advantagesand disadvantages existed. The referred methods are compared to list advantages and disadvantages.2. The definition of the given plant dispersive growth, structural analysis based on giventhe typical shape instance.There are thousands of plant morphology, the basis for classification are different. Thepaper concludes classification methods and proposes dispersive growth forms of plants from theplant growth typical of self-similarity and random combining with typical dispersive growthform such as fibrous root system, growth ring of woody plants and texture of profile to researchstructure of plants.3. Research of Basic DLA model in plant modelingDispersive growth characteristics of the dynamic growth model DLA model plant isintroduced. On the basis of the research of basic DLA model mathematical principle andgrowth process, VC++ program for DLA growth law of the computer simulation practice areconstantly used to extracted parameter which influence the final shape and makes controllability analysis and research, as far as possible combines plant physiological ecology characteristics to simulate, and then come to gain the advantages of this method in the field of plant modeling.4. Dispersive growth form of plant using improved DLA modelThis paper improves DLA model, and in the field of dispersive simulation of plantmorphology, simulated the hydropism growth morphology and water potential of uniformgrowth morphology of herbaceous plants roots, and analysis and comparison of renderings ofthe virtual plant roots above. At the same time, a simple simulation of other dispersive growthform related to plant morphology. Improved DLA model enriches the combination of the fieldof modeling of plant physiological ecology and morphology.5. The development of Simulation environmentFinally, we design the appropriate data structure; Mainly to Simulation dispersive growthform of the fibrous root system, using database technology, unified plant dispersive morphologyof typical in a system, and developed a simple simulation environment to display dispersiverenderings. It manages and maintains the plants dispersive morphology of typical, covenantingfor the user to observe and compare.In this paper, the refinement of the virtual plant morphology, plant dispersive morphology of the basic DLA model and its applications to achieve innovation.This paper has some innovations, such as the classification of plant morphology, modelingmethod of the dispersive growth form of plants, the improvement of the DLA model and itsapplications and so on.
