In the past few years, the improvement of microelectronics and technology of wirelessnetwork results in dramatic increase of the availability of personal mobile devices, such aslaptops, powerful PDAs and smart mobile phones. At the same time, Wireless network coverageis also expanding from several areas to coverage the whole buildings and the coverage of theentire campus. And even the concept of the wireless city is proposed. With the convenientdevices, the mobile can share user-generated contents and interested resources through computernetworks. They can interact with the users and share files via Internet. The P2P technology is agood example which we are very familiar with. P2P, namely is the abbreviation of peer-to-peerin English, equals peer-peer networks in Chinese, and it is often referred to P2P. P2P technologyhas many specific applications, and most of the applications’primary purpose of resourcesharing. Peer-to-Peer file sharing applications are increasingly popular and they enable users toshare various files with high scalability. In the case that Internet infrastructures are unavailable, the mobile devices share files through mobile connections, which can be regarded as a mobilepeer-to-peer(P2P) network. In mobile P2P networks, peers are intermittently connected, whichmakes traditional approaches of file searching and file sharing between two distant peers almostinfeasible. It is a challenging problem to build file-sharing systems in mobile P2P networkenvironment with frequent disconnections of nodes and dynamic topology. In this paper, we design a social network based file sharing system in mobile P2P networks. It leads to low network overhead and offers satisfactory transmission success rate. Our main contribution in the paper is as follow:First, the idea of dividing the campus wireless network into a number of peer to peerregions is given. This idea is proposed in accordance with the physical location of the campusbuildings and an important characteristic that some users’behaviors are similar in campusnetwork. The principle of zoning is that the different peer nodes belong to different IP addresseswith the wireless network access points.Second, we exploit different mobility of the nodes for file searching and inter-communitycommunication. Peers in the mobile P2P networks are assigned different tasks based on theircharacteristics of stability or mobility, so that peers can better utilize their resources and makemore contributions to file searching and file retrieving. The social network based community, routing algorithm and exploitation of stability and mobility bring about significantly reducednetwork traffic and enhanced file retrieval success rate.Third, we cluster the peers in the mobile P2P network to different communities based ontheir interests and enable users to retrieve files in their communities, which reduce traffic costwithout reducing file searching success rate. Finally, simulation experiment is given. Based on the ONE simulation technique, the abovedivisional hybrid P2P network is simulated. Then the output results of this simulation experimentare analyzed to test the validity and feasibility of these strategies.
