Campus is a densely populated areas which people’s have high mobility and contact rate. So, it is very easy to become a disaster area when bursting out cosmically epidemics or infections(eg:SARA or Avian influenza). Because abnormal body temperature is one of these diseases’s main features, real-time monitoring students’s body temperature can effectively prevent the occurrence of large-scale epidemics or infectious diseases. On the other hand, students illegal using high-power electrical appliances very easily lead to a fire in their dormitories. Schools’s management is very strict on safety of students’s dormitories,but this case is still happened occasionally.Usually, before or late a fire occurred, dormitory will generate a lot of smoke, so it is of great significance to real-time monitor smoke situation in order to prevent and fight fire in time. Aiming at above two conditions,this paper proposes a design and implementation of dormitory security and epidemic monitoring system in campus based on wireless sensor network.This system adopt ZigBee technology as a communication protocol in wirelee sensor network, and design body temperature nodes, smoke nodes and sink nodes by CC2430chip and other peripheral circuits and modules. Temperature sensor on the body temperature node can mensure students’s body temperature, smoke sensor on the smoke node can detect smog situation of dormitory, temperature and smoke data is transmitted to the sink node through wireless network, than the data is send to gateway using serial port. Last, gateway upload the data to monitoring center via Ethernet. Similarly, the monitoring center also send commands to control wireless network nodes.The whole monitoring software is designed and developed by VS2008on Windows platform in this system. PC software based on C/S mode, database and monitoring and management system based on B/S mode and Web make up the monitoring center. The main functions of the PC software are communicating with the gateway and storing data from the gateway to database. While, real-time monitoring body temperature and smoke parameters and alarming when these parameters were abnormal are the main functions of monitoring management system based on Web. PC software is developed by using C#language and Socket technology, database is developed by using SQL Server2005, accessing the database by using SQL and ADO.NET technology, using ASP.NET and HTML/CSS for developing Web pages, and adopting IIS as Web Server in this system. After joint test of the upper and lower machine, the system can real-time,intuitive and convenient monitor students’s body temperature and smoke of dormitories, and users can access monitoring center anytime and anywhere in the LAN.
