Modeling and simulation of radar signal is a new method of research which bases on theoretical research and the development of digital computer processing. It provides a convenient and efficient way for the design of radar system, and also secures the performance of radar system. The technology of modeling and simulation has the characteristics of flexible, economical and portable, thus gradually becomes an important technology in the research of radar system.This article describes how to use the design tool of MATLAB to model and simulate the echo signal of radar system. This paper has done in the following more detailed statement:1. Introduces the overview of radar technology and simulation technology, analyzes the basic composition of radar and the important parameters of radar signal simulation, and discusses the impact of these parameters in the echo signal simulation of radar system.2. Describes the specific characteristics of radar target, and the influence of the effective scattering area of the target in echo signal modeling. Gives the model which can match the properties of the effective scattering area of the target.3. Gives a detailed analysis of the parts which make up the echo signal in the simulation of radar signal, discusses the clutter signal and noise signal respectively. Gives the ways of modeling and simulating these two signals、、 4. Detailed analyzes the various types of transmit signals of radar system,such as linear frequency modulated signal, Barker code signal and non-linear FM signal. Simulates the echo signals produced by all these different radar signal,and map all the echo signal waveform out by MATLAB.5. Uses the tool of MATLAB GUI to design a graphics visual interface in order to realize automation of human-computer interaction.
