Data acquisition, as an important method for obtaining valid data, is one ofthe key technologies in detecting controlled object and managing a system. Atpresent, data acquisition technique has been widely used in industrial production, medical equipment, transportation and scientific research. It will have a broaderprospects of high speed, high performance and more convenience in pace withthe popularization of computer technology and development of instrumentationbus and network.Based on practical needs, this study aims at designing a high-speed,high-precision and strong real-time universal data acquisition system with lowcost and flexible interface. This design based on FPGA technology, used SOPCdesign concept, and adopted Nios Ⅱ soft-core processor as a core controller tocontrol sampling of A/D converter, send data into the FIFO and transmit data toPC through USB interface. The collected signals were displayed and analyzed inthe LabVIEW platform finally. In this paper, the typical architecture of data acquisition system was given.Hardware system mainly consists of front high-speed A/D converter module, master controller of FPGA, and USB interface circuit was designed. Accordingto the idea of design and the procedure of program, software system includingNios Ⅱ software, USB firmware, USB driver and test program for transferringrate of collected data was completed. And the interface design of host computerwas accomplished on the basis of LabVIEW. The results show that the systemhas advantages of fast, convenient and reliable, and the steady maximumtransmission speed is about20MB/s.
