With the rapid development of integrated circuits, data acquisition has been widely usedin the Internet information technology, science research, distributed field. All areas of modernsociety are inseparable from the data acquisition and information exchange, on the one hand,the software and hardware architecture of the data acquisition system has been developed tointegrated and embedded direction in research and application process; on the other hand, theextensibility of the data acquisition system is more powerful, sharing data and communicationwith external devices are increasingly becoming the trend. The traditional data acquisitioninstruments have a single function and solely rely on computer software analysis on aspects ofdata processing and transmission, connectivity and development is not strong.For the problems of traditional data acquisition instruments and the future trends of dataacquisition technology, based on SOPC (System On Programmable Chip) and LabVIEWtechnology, then the hardware and the software architecture of the entire data acquisitionsystem was analyzed, and add the technology of wireless data transmission and visualizationdata processing to achieved system design. Hardware: firstly using DE2-70embedded boardas hardware core of SOPC system, selecting EP2C70F896C6FPGA chip; then peripheralcircuit selects4Zigbee boards and with embedded board compositing wireless dataacquisition hardware architecture, the function of wireless communication select CC2530chip to achieve. Software: firstly appllying Nios II embedded soft-core in SOPC technology,and designing and programming the data acquisition system in the Quartus II and Nios II IDEdevelopment environment; then in the graphical language application of LabVIEW virtualinstrument technology to upper computer’s development and data processing; once moredesigning the multi-channel data acquisition function of Zigbee wireless data acquisitioncircuit in IAR development environment. Finally, system build the hardware circuit,acquisition data through Zigbee wireless communicaition system by serial port to thehardware circuit of SOPC system, then transmit to upper computer with processing, havingdisplay, analysis, storage, playback and other functions, design of multi-channel dataacquisition system based on SOPC and LabVIEW were implemented.Test results show that the design of multi-channel data acquisition system has toachieved the related technical indicators, and to reached the expected results. In addition, bythe flexibility of an embedded SOPC technology and LabVIEW system, users can customizedthe Nios II soft-core in SOPC system which required functionality, and can also added thedesired instruments to handled the analysis of data in the VI of LabVIEW.
