Data acquisition is the basic means of acquiring information; it has extremely widespread application in the modern industrial production and scientific research. The traditional data acquisition unit is mainly composed of discrete component or single chip microcontroller; it has some shortcomings such as low reliability, slow speed. It can’t satisfy the requirements of field data acquisition of high speed, high accuracy and real-time, thus the very large scale, ultra high speed field programmable logic device FPGA is used to improve speed, accuracy and real-time performance of data acquisition unit,which has satisfied the requirement of current data collector development.Based on the analysis of the development Situation of data collector both at home and abroad, the paper studies the method to realize the data acquisition, proposes a design scheme of data acquisition and processing system based on FPGA and selects the low power consumption, low cost, high performance FPGA chip EP1C6Q240as a control core,it implements a kind of data acquisition and analysis system different from traditional structures, which becomes more rapid and more portable. In the design of the hardware circuit, this system respectively includes the FPGA control module, signal modulation circuit module, A/D analog-to-digital conversion circuit module, human-computer interaction module and serial interface communication module. Among them, the FPGA control module is the core of the system, which is used to complete the sequential control, drive for peripheral circuit, the realization of data caching and processing; In this system, signal modulation circuit adopts AD603as the program-controlled amplification circuit. A/D analog-to-digital conversion circuit is formed by chip TLC5510and AD603, which achieves data collection. In order to realize more complex processing and larger capacity of storage, collected data can be displayed by the human-computer interaction system, which is consisting of liquid crystal display (LCD12864) and it can be also transmitted to the PC through serial port communication circuit which is formed by MAX232chip. In the process of the software design, especially in the design of FPGA internal module, using Altera QuartusII platform and VHDL language to describe A/D analog-to-digital conversion control module, FIFO memory module, the FFT data processing module, serial communication controller module, liquid crystal display controller module and button controller module. The software can simulate various modules in the functions and timing sequence, the results of simulation show that each module can complete prescribed functions and the drivers of corresponding circuit.In the design of this paper, data acquisition and processing system fulfills the performance advantages of the FPGA adequately. The whole system has such characteristics as low cost, high performance, small volume, etc. Under the condition of using TLC5510chip, which can realize sampling storage of the signal and data processing function of the highest sampling frequency for12MHZ; the work this paper discussed paves the way for realization of portable acquisition and data processing system of high speed, low cost.
