Experiments is an essential part of education in College of engineering,However, colleges and universities continue to expand the scale of enrollment, atthe same time, the function of traditional experimental equipments is single andfixed, and the price is very expensive. So, the lack of experiment teaching hasseriously affected the quality of experimental teaching. Virtual experiment is acombination of computer and virtual instrument technology, it provides userswith a realistic virtual environment to complete a variety of experiments. Thenetwork virtual experiment platform can make up the shortage of the traditionalexperiments, it has lower cost and higher scalability. Therefore, it is the focus ofcurrent research because of its prospect in experimental teaching and research.This paper finished the work mainly from the following aspects:First, the necessity of improvement about experimental equipment andexperimental environment has analysised based on the prezent situation ofexperimental teaching in engineering colleges and universities. The function andcharacteristic of virtual instrument has introduced, and some probles aboutvirtual instrument application in experimental teaching has discussed;Then, the advantages of the graphical programming language LabVIEW hasanalysised through campared several kind of programming language, with itsshort development cycle, without programming foundation and strongexpansibility, LabVIEW decided the feasibility of build the virtual experimentsystem, thereby a experiment system structure is defined, then the developmentof a virtual experiment platform would be completed.Based the automation control system experimental platform of THSA-1,using theory of modeling method, the mathematical model of liquid level controland temperature control are stablished, because the relative mature and goodcontrol effect, it choose PID control combined with fuzzy conrol then designedthree typical industrial virtual experiment, including temperature control, level control and the decoupling control of temperature and level;Finally, the experiment system management module has designed bycombination of LabVIEW and Access, it contains user information andexperimental information. Through comparison the advantages of B/S and C/S,choose a more safe and more flexible B/S model as the network of virtualexperiment system, then the experiments has no limitation of time and place.The topics chose LabVIEW as software platform. Make full use of itsadvantages of simple programming, short development time and modularitydesign, as a result the performance is more flexible, the upgrades andmaintenance are easier and the practicability is better. The validity of virtualexperimental system has proved through experiment. At the same time, thesystem makes full use of the cyber source, reduce hardware investment andimprove the safety of experiment. It has great realistic significance for improvingthe teaching methods and the quality of experiment.
