In the long-term geological survey, mineral resources exploration and developmentprocess, China has accumulated massive geological, geophysical, geochemical and remotesensing, multi-disciplinary geological maps, which has great importance to geological surveyand research, exploration and development of mineral resources.It is still a laborious work toconsult massive multidisciplinary geological maps which scattered in different geologicaldepartments; it is hard to give full play to the potential application value of geological map.Along with the network, the development of communication and computer technology,especially with the Web2.0technology arisen, provides opportunities to the web sharing ofgeological map. To develop a web sharing platform of geological map that meet user’srequirements of different levels which generally contribute to achieve the sharing of thegeological map of different range of countries, regions, enterprises. In this system, users couldview or query a variety of geological maps quickly and easily. Thus, to establish a websharing system of exploration map is very important to improve the efficiency of study andcarry out cooperative research.Web fast sharing platform of massive geological maps(WSPGM)is based on the Flextechnology development, WSPGM adopts B/S model development, including the server andthe client. The server uses PHP, database uses MySQL, the client uses Flex. Using B/Sarchitecture, with map navigation, search, display, security and other functions of thesoftware system. Through this platform, users can quickly access a variety of geological maps;improve the working efficiency of the geological personnel. This sharing platform ofgeological map based on the Internet and other web technology established which can realizesharing and interoperability of various geological maps effectively. The users can call systemresources to finish all kinds of processing tasks by using the Web browser; it greatlysimplifies the client and reduces the cost and the work load of the maintenance and upgrade ofthe system resulting in reduction of overall operation and maintenance cost.Through the maps pretreatment and asynchronous communication the system can displayany size of geological map, and through the range limits, rights management, sharing system and watermark logo to take effective security on geological map. With the research of theWSPGM, we can reach a conclusion and understanding as following:(1)The WSPGMresearching by Flex possess the interface similar as the desktop programs,it has excellentfunction of map navigation, searching and displaying,it can satisfy the demand of user toaccess and retrieval of maps.(2)The technologies of asynchronous communication and themaps preprocessing used by WSPGM, can significantly increase the speed of map display,and greatly enhance the opportunity of the user experience.(3)We can limit the user accessauthority with the confidentiality mechanism of the WSPGM, maintain secrecy of thegeological maps. This mechanism enables WSPGM widely applied to geological map sharedof Internetwork or local area network.The web sharing platform of geological map is based on the technology of Web2.0, it isvery important for the improvement of geological survey and research, the exploration and theexploitation of mineral resources. On the basis of this system, through trying Jilin Universityweb sharing system of geological map, the system can greatly improve the efficiency of usinggeological map, and it is important to improve the efficiency of geological research. On thebasis of this system, through trying Jilin University web sharing system of geological map,the system can greatly improve the efficiency of using geological map, and it is important toimprove the efficiency of geological research.
