With the continuous increase of the breadth and depth of land development, inmacroscopic view, grasp the construction land space pattern and evolution process, itcan regulate the land utilization spatial order, optimize the land use pattern, providescientific basis for the reasonable land resources allocation, guarantee the pertinenceand effectiveness of national macro strategic decision, and promote economic, socialand environmental sustainable development.At present, the clear research about land development is lacking, but constructionland space pattern and urbanization process have been studied by a lot of scholars.Now, although there are many kinds of remote sensing data, time and space resolutionis different, the data processing is very huge and time-consuming, this is not enoughto be effective and timely provide macro large scale construction land spaceinformation, it make the current large scale study also depends on the societyeconomic statistical data which is lack of space information and based on theadministrative units.DMSP/OLS data is able to detect the lights of the city and even the low intensitylight that come from the small scale residential areas, a traffic light and so on; thisprovided a new acquisition of information sources for large scale construction landestimate.The research according to spatial-temporal evolution of the existing large scaleconstruction land lacking of appropriate data sources, based on1992-2010DMSP/OLS data, combined with the social and economic statistical data, using thetheory of gravity and space coupling model, to start construction land migration tracesgravity path and construction land space pattern evolution.Research shows that:(1) using DMSP/OLS data in large scale construction landspace pattern study is feasible.(2) In years1992-2010,the construction land is locatedin China’s geographical center of gravity. The36.7°north latitude is irregular changenearby, longitude reduce gradually. Our country construction’s land space distributionis equilibrium between north and south, west less, the western region constructionland increase speed is greater than the region in the east.(3) Country construction land and economic construction land uniform distribution in the east side of thegeographical center, that means our country construction land and economicdevelopment is not balanced between east and west area. Construction landdistribution in the north side of the economic barycenter, that means construction landin northern economic output below south. The western construction land is usedextensive, and low economic output.(4) The space pattern evolution of ourconstruction land mainly depends on policy adjustment.
