Recently, with the popularity of broadband access technology, the rapid development of Internet technology and the increasing of personal computer processing ability, all kinds of new services appear on the Internet, one of them is video on demand, which is being to be the mainstream business. Based on the traditional C/S model service because of the limited service capability and network bandwidth, limits the scalability of the system. The use of P2P technology to achieve streaming media system helps to reduce the pressure on the scale of the server, so there is an important significance to content distribution. The VoD service unique player interaction and asynchronous, increases the difficulty of system development.In P2P VoD system, there are several important parts, such as a publisher, a content server, tracker server, the peer system and so on. The peer system is not only an interactive interface among users, but also has a server function, to provide resources and services for its neighbor nodes, so it occupies the extremely important position in the P2P system. Therefore, the main work of this paper around the P2P VoD system peer is carried out.First of all, this paper analyzes the research status of video on demand service, describes the research contents and main research results; secondly, introduces the issues and relative key technologies, including DirectShow based pull mode filtering technology, network service model; then according to the function requirement of the system designs a VoD peer system based on P2P technology and the DirectShow models; and through the analysis of BitTorrcnt protocol slice mechanism, put forward a kind of flexible and efficient slice mechanism, and according to the discontinuous buffer length in different dynamic slicing chip select mechanism; finally the statistical validation of the peer system and the rationality of the design and the partition strategy and chip select algorithm.
