The Design And Implementation Of VOD And MIS For KTV

With the development of computer and high-speed network technology, the video-on-demand system becomes true and there is enormous potential demand. VOD has become one of the most developing potential technologies. It integrates such technologies as communication, multimedia, management information system and so on. With the computer hardware cheaper and cheaper and the capability more and more excellent, researching and developing the VOD system using in the KTV, and giving customers the better service would be an important thing.This paper designs and implements a VOD system which is based on LAN and using in KTV. This system uses three layers of C/S architecture. The rich client software can query songs, play media files, order the drink and check the bill. The client software separates its resource so that it could change multi language UI. In the play media files module, the client increases two functions: one is mix the caption or picture on the TV screen; the other one is encrypting the media files and play it. The server MIS software can monitor and manage the rooms'information and the querying for drink real time. It also manages the whole KTV's account and goods information.The whole system has well expansibility, reusability and maintainability. This system was already set up in some KTV. According the users'feedback, this system's design is suitable, and running is stable. It already made economy benefit.
