The techniques of computer processing, digital video compressing and video data transmission have been developing quickly these years. They make the digital video kinescope system flexible, proficient, extensible and robust. It is the trend to combine IP networking and multimedia techniques into the modern video kinescope system, and it has tremendous application prospect in the field of bank, traffic, security, medical, military establishment etc..In the dissertation, the author discusses the design and implementation of a digital video kinescope system. The terminal of the system is designed based on the technology of Microsoft's DirectShow, which is built for the streaming media which runs on the Windows operations, and makes the play of multimedia flexible, and provides service for almost all kinds of media format, especially for capture and replay of video streams. The dissertation also presents the design of a DirectShow kinescope system, which is used on the kinescope terminal to receive and decode the stream, and to show the video image. Using the DirectShow architecture, the whole software system can be more modularized and facilitates the front end developing. The system uses MPEG-2 protocol to encode and to multicast its video data, almost all the functions are designed on service terminal. The author brings forward a non-linear compile method based on GOP of MPEG-2 video stream which is efficient and convenient. The system uses Ethernet as its transfer media, the data transferring techniques used by the system are IP multicasting, UDP & RTP protocols. The whole system performs well under this implementation.
