With the network expansion, the management and operation of the existing IPv4 network has become very complex, these issues become more prominent, for instance, address space shortages, bandwidth bottlenecks, network safety, data security, quality of service and support to mobile identity. To better meet challenges, it need to establish the next generation internet protocol, IPv6 network, IPv6 as the next version of the internet protocol, will be inevitable to replace IPv4. And advantage of IPv6 is better able to support a variety of end and multimedia operations, such as the video-on-demand, videoconferencing, VoIP and mobile data business. So in IPv6 pilot network, corresponding to VOD adaptability and improve research practice is essential. While IPv6 provides a more optimal to support multicast, high-resolution digital television, the network conferences, video-on-demand, network video surveillance areas will have broad application prospects. This article introduces the VOD system concepts, Systems compose, to the status quo and future development. Research and analysis of the commonly used multicast ways to enhance service efficiency methods, multicast used in the VOD applications—Slot partition (SRMDRU Methods). In multicast manner, average delay time of the system has bean reduced, and overall efficiency of the system has been enhanced. For the client to receive the media data on how to achieve simultaneous play. This article use VC.NET combination DirectX SDK 9. 0 DirectShow to show the video images play signals, develope for the reception and transmission of network data components, use the socket to provide network IPv6 protocol multicast transmission. To ensure control of information sent out to be accurate, use the HTTP protocol, and data packet access for video images communications, IP multicast data packets are based on the use of non-connected UDP protocol. In the IPv6 network video-on-demand development of technology application, this explores the winsock technology under IPv6 protocol, focus on the IPv6 network-multicast programming, Com components technology, DirectShow technology. In the final, it recalls the lessons of the entire article, and has a vista to the development of network VOD technology.
