DaVinci is a new technology and product, and it utilizes flexible and complete solutions to achieve the originality of OEM products. Besides, it makes full use of the integrated components that having been tested, and could effectively curtail the product development time. The DaVinci technology also specially designs software framework that provides plenty of SPI, API and digital media algorithm components for the design of digital media applications.However, it’s complicated to develop algorithms and applications based on the platform for the users who aren’t familiar with the DaVinci software framework. In addition, in the embedded courses offered by colleges and universities nowadays, the proportion of embedded hardware platform and operating system is more than that of the applications based on embedded platform, especially the digital media applications.Based on DaVinci DM6446 platform, this paper develops one digital media processing and transmission experimental system to meet the requirement of embedded digital media experimental teaching. The system implements image and video processing algorithms and real-time video network transmission technique on the embedded platform, designs related experiments and develops the algorithm auto-packaging software.First, this paper implements a variety of image and video processing algorithms based on the platform’s software and hardware architecture.Second, this paper achieves network transmission of H.264 video streaming.In addition, aiming at the compilation of the programs and the configuration of the documents during the algorithm development process is complicated, this paper develops the algorithm auto-packaging software, editing the configuration documents, compiling the programs and automatically generating the executable files of the algorithms. This software can simplify the algorithm development process.The main results of this paper are the digital media processing and transmission experimental system developed on DaVinci platform and new methods that achieving rate control of video data transmission and automatically generating the algorithms’executable files. The results of this paper are preliminarily used in the embedded digital media experimental teaching.
