The ocean is rich of resources, and the land resource is becoming scarce today, that’s why countries around the world have turned their attention to the ocean, however because of the exploitation of the ocean resource, marine environment damage. So research and development of the marine environmental monitoring technology is is very important. The traditional environmental monitoring method is by manual collection of seawater samples and then bring back to the lab to analysis. This method is very time-consuming and the sample is likely to have been polluted duiring the process of collection and transport. So it is needde to develop the marine environment monitoring system with a set of real-time online moniton and remote transmission of data. The research of marine environmental monitoring system combining GPRS wireless communication technology, marine chemical sensor technolog and electronic technology,to achieve water quality automatic.real-time monitoring, and data can be transmited through the GPRS network to the monitoring center, researchers only by a computer can understand monitoring sea water conditions, which is a large extent change to the past which only rely on site sampling and laboratory analysis.This paper first set the present situation and the demands of marine environmental monitoring system as the foundation.and then determine the monitoring parameters of marine environmental monitoring system and on this basis to make the paln of monitoring system. Then a detailed description of the marine environmental monitoring system design will be revealed, including hardware design and software implementation.This system should work and the water for a long-term and the capability of carrying power is very limited, so the component selection, the design of hardware and software are considered low power design. We choose the ultra low power single chip MSP430F149which is the production of TI as the MCU.when the system does not work MSP430f149will enter a low power mode, at the same time before the hibernation of CPU,it will close all of the power supply of peripheral equipment which does not work through software control.This method can make the power consumption of the system to a minimum level.The MCU has two main function:1collecting and storing data2sends the data to the data center.through the GPRS module.According to the project request, we should use wireless communication to transmit data to the monitoring center. The cost of GPRS service is relatively cheap and the technology of GPRS is also mature, so we select GPRS as a means of wireless communication. GPRS has many advantages:(1) high speed data transmission, it is of high speed than GSM by ten timest;(2)online forever, since the establishment of new connection almost without any time, so it can keep connection with network, which is particularly suitable for the sudden short connection;(3) low fees, charging according to data flow. This paper use the GPRS module for wireless transmission, to achieve the purpose of real-time on-line monitoring the water quality.Finally, the hardware and software are finished, the entire system has been tested, the test results show that the system can work normally, and has achieved the anticipated goal.
