There is a vast reservoir of clean non-polluting hydropower resources in China’svast geographical area. Especially the small hydropower resource is most abundant.With the rapid development of the national economy, as well as the increasing demandfor hydropower, there are large quantities of small and medium-sized hydropowerstations that are being building. Therefore, design and research a suit of computermonitoring and control system which can meet the demand of small and medium-sizedhydropower to improve the technology and management level has an importantpractical significance.The hydropower station computer monitoring and control system is such a kind oftechnology which involves automatic control theory, computer network, digital imageprocessing etc, and which can also realize the real-time monitoring and management ofhydropower station. By systematically analyzing the domestic and internationalhydropower station computer monitoring model, network communication and thecurrent control unit (LCU) model, according to the automatic generation controlrequirement of hydropower station, the paper finished computer supervisory controlsystem design and structural configuration and remote monitoring control attemptingof a secondly small hydropower station of Zigui County of Hubei province.Through adopting the hierarchical and distributed control system structure, thehydropower station control system can be divided into remote scheduling andmanagement layer, centralize control layer and local control unit layer. According tothe characteristic of small hydropower station, we adopt CAN bus network in thedesign of the communication between the power station control layer masterequipment and the local master control unit, and in the measurement and controldevices with the local control unit. While in other intelligent devices we adopt thetraditional RS485/RS232network. In the design of local control unit, we adoptEDCS-7340and PLC, complemented by a variety of automated instrumentation torealize the local control unit control and adjusting. In the design of the supervisorycomputer section, we adopts the powerful industrial control configurationsoftware--Kingview6.55universal edition to complete hydropower station monitoringsystem monitoring interface design, and to realize of communication of host computerand slave computer, power station monitoring reports and intelligent management and other functions. Based on this, the studies the Web publishing and remote accessthrough Internet/Intranet of the project, in order to realize the remote browse andmonitoring of the project through network, and better achieve Hydropower Stationscheduling and remote management.Based on the design of the hydropower station, this paper studies the basic typesand methods of fault diagnosis of the Hydropower Station, and gray theory is appliedto the hydropower station electrical and mechanical equipment failure analysis anddiagnosis. It verifies the simple and validity of the gray relational analysis in thehydropower station mechanical and electrical equipment fault diagnosis. Thesis basedon the study of hydropower station remote network monitoring has made feasibleattempt. It is valuable and meaningful for the study of remote monitoring technologyof the hydroelectric stations group, especially for the development of the cascadehydropower stations.
